Ken Block, a professional rally driver and co-founder of Hoonigan, was killed in a snowmobile crash on Monday, according to both Hoonigan and the local authorities.
Block, a well-known name in the automotive industry, was 55 years old. He co-founded DC shoes and entered the rally scene where he soon established himself by founding the Hoonigan brand and the well-known Gymkhana film series.
According to a statement from Hoonigan, “It is with the utmost regret that we can report that Ken Block lost away in a snowmobile accident today.” “Ken was a trailblazer, an icon, and a visionary. And last but not least, a husband and a father.”
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office in Utah confirmed Block’s demise. Around 2:00 p.m., Block’s snowmobile “upended, landing on top of him” in the Mill Hollow region of Woodland, Utah when he was travelling on a steep slope, according to authorities. Block was travelling alone but in a group at the time of the accident. At the scene, he was identified as deceased.
When he wasn’t operating Porsche race cars or Audi electric stunt vehicles, Block engaged in a number of winter sports, such as snowboarding, UTV driving, and snowmobiling. Block leaves behind his wife Lucy and three kids.
